April 27, 2014 Sarria to Portomarin

Today was great! The camino from Sarria to Portomarin is probably one of the most beautiful segments of the entire walk. Unlike yesterday's stage, this one was entirely away from any road. The scenery was beautiful all along. The four of us aredoing great (no blisters yet) and we are all in good spirits. Carol liked it so much that she started talking  about coming back next year starting in France.

We left Sarria at 8:45 AM and we got to Portomarin just before 6 PM after walking 22.4 Km. - about 14 miles. As we are approaching the town, I hear someone in Spanish saying "Mira tio  lo que hay en frente" which means "Hey man look what's in front of us"  and no wonder - after walking all day we had to climb about 80 stairs to enter the town - it was brutal. Once we got to the hotel we all appreciated very very hot showers.
