Day 6 - April 10 - El Burgo Ranero to Leon

We finally got a break with the weather. Not as cold, just a bit of a drizzle, some sun, only windy towards the end.

We did catch a bus at 9:30 in the morning that took us to Mansillas de las Mulas. From there our walk to the hotel we're staying at in Leon was 12.9 miles. This helped a lot since it gave Larry the opportunity to resume walking.  Ed and I braved it and wore sandals which helped aerate our feet. We walked slowly and made steady progress. Ended up having coffee at four separate places.

We had a great lunch. Probably the best one since Burgos. As I was waiting at the plaza in Arcahueja for the guys to catch up, and old man come over to where I was an we started a conversation. He was keen to tell me that we had only 6 Km to go to get to Leon. I asked him if he could recommend a place to have lunch since it was already 2 PM. He suggested "El Pradillo" which was a bit off the trail and not on most pilgrim's radar. So I told the guys about it and ended up there. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. If you read this and will do the camino you'll do yourself a big favor if you stop at this place to eat. By the way, Ed says that he has enjoyed every meal he has had in Spain so far. The other guys are not complaining either. We even discovered that Emilio actually likes pasta with tomato sauce! The picture says it all.

  1. Amazing pictures! Thoroughly enjoying the narrative of your adventure, and relieved to see you boys are not suffering from hunger [or thirst!] Buen provecho, hope the weather continues to improve
