Day 7 - April 11 - Rest day in Leon

Today we're resting in Leon. Since stepping out of the train in Burgos on April 4th, we've walked 116 miles. We're basically one third of the way there.

Emilio, Jose, and I went out to some of the city's landmarks while Ed and Larry chose to stay in their rooms and rest. It rained the entire time we were out.

We waked up the old roman wall which brought us close to the cathedral. The cathedral was as impressive as the last time I saw it 27 years ago when I first visited Leon. We met some pilgrims we had walked along with over the last few days in the cathedral plaza. From the cathedral we down the street and passed by Casa de Los Botines a building designed by Gaudi and built in 1892. A short walk from there we arrived at plaza San Marcos and the Hostal San Marcos. We took a picture a la "The Way" with rain-enhanced surroundings. From there we headed back to the hotel via the walk next to the river. Very nice city!

We're just going to relax for the rest of the day so that we can be as fresh as possible to resume our journey tomorrow.

I've been adding pictures and words to previous posts. Feel free to scroll down and see what's new...
