Prologue - Madrid to Burgos

Early on Thursday we took the train to Burgos.

The train was scheduled to depart at 8:00 AM so we decided to meet in the lobby of the hotel, which is right next to the train station, at 7:30. At 7:30 AM we were all at the lobby except for Larry. His alarm did not wake him but the call to his room finally did. We ended up boarding the train at 7:59 but as Larry said we had to wait one minute for the train to leave. Crisis averted.

The train ride to Burgos was uneventful and we arrived at 10:21AM. Exactly on schedule. We proceeded to walk from the train station to the hotel thus making this the prologue to our walk.

After checking in we went down the street, calle Vitoria, to see the cathedral and get our pilgrim passport stamped for the first time. The cathedral is massive and worth a trip to Burgos just t see it.

We had lunch at Casa Ojeda, a well-known high-end restaurant that specializes in roasted baby lamb. That's what we all ended up eating and we all enjoyed it tremendously. For Ed, being in Spain for the first time ever, it was a special treat. He enjoyed the lamb, the morcilla, and everything else they threw at us.

After lunch we all went back to the hotel for a siesta given that four out of the five of us were suffering from jet lag. In the evening we went to get some goodies to eat and we gathered in Larry's room where we proceeded to eat them while having a bottle of Emilio's Cabernet that we brought from California.

We agreed to meet in the lobby the following morning at 7:30 to start the real walk.

!Note: I'm having difficulty uploading pics to the cloud due to bandwidth limitations at the places we're staying at along with the fact that we are in an extremely rural area. I'll update those posts with pictures as soon as possible.
